Uhm, really I also play bass but I like guitar more. However, a bass isn't a real bass without some active PU's and at least a 2-band-EQ. Just sayin', all those passive types never did anything for me, not for metal or any other style I like to play. I need to have a thick/variable tone, from weak backgroundish type to the extreme "lead-bass". All of it, not just some "pseudo sound" in the lower to (high)mid frequencies. _________________ o

Bass gives off a fuzzy low sound when you have the right strings and the pickups and of course the right bass. This gives Death Metal (or Black) such a good sound, but the problem is with bassists; they never play loud enough. Turn up that bass Alex Webster! (Cannibal Corpse bassist.) |

I find that Alex Webster's sound is quite loud, and I can not understand why some of you can't hear it, while I can hear it clearly. Besides if it became to dominant it would just be to heavy. |

People prefer guitar over bass. This is one thing I can understand; however this is one of the reasons why I appreciate bass and prefer it over guitar. Everyone looks for a bass players because it's rare if you can find someone who prefers bass and who knows how to play. I'm glad people prefer guitar generally. It makes bass so much more special to me. _________________ \,,/ Black Metal \,,/ |

I started on bass and then moved onto guitar but I always have time for my bass guitar when I feel like a change. Lately in my hometown there is a major shortage in metal bassists and it sucks really :/. What is really sad that i have noticed is that many bassists only stick to the E string (of course because its the lowest for standard tuning) but they don't really bother using the other 3. That is the reason I love Alex Webster, He knows how to play the bass to it's full potential. |
