Discovered this on Archive.org, never knew it existed. It stars Douglas Fairbanks and his wife Mary Pickford in a VERy early talkie, in fact it was filmed in 1928 before silents had gone their way. Fantastic performances by both actors, this version kicks ass over the Burton/Taylor version. Download it or watch it on the site, if you are a lover of Shakespeare this version captures the spirit of the play that I'm sure Shakespeare intended. And Fairbanks and Pickford looked like they enjoyed the hell out of it. The opening scene is priceless when Kate destroys the room, and it just gets better from there. It was restored a number of years ago, the talkies back then had the sound on records and the quality is usually unintelligible, but this is clear as a bell.

Awesome find cj. Douglas Fairbanks was awesome in robin hood, and Mary Pickford beautiful as always.
