|
I finally got around to finding a way to stream death.fm on a portable device...with out having to lug a lap top around. Its on the Sony PlayStation Portable and a wifi connection.
if you have one you must hack it to accept homebrew programs. I can't instruct you on how to do this (as my friend hacked mine for me). But once you have hacked it download PSP Radio. you can find it here:
http://pspradio.sourceforge.net/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=6&sid=69e9f28119df3ddb5c750d787cc61c8c
I use version 1.18.1377
somehow death.fm is not included in the Shout Cast data base that is on the PSP Radio app. So you must add it by adding it to the playlist section. To do that, go to: http://shoutcast.com/
Do a search for death or death.fm. Once you find the deathfm stream (or any other station for that matter) click on "TUNE IN" and save playlist to disk. (You might need to right click and "save link as") The text of which should look something like this: [playlist]numberofentries=1File1=http://209.9.229.212:8080Title1=(#1 - 2/666) Death.F(ucking)M(etal)Length1=-1Version=2
Now you can insert this playlist into the PSPRadio>PlayLists folder of the PSP Radio zip file you already downloaded.
Now load PSP Radio onto your PSP (it comes w/ a read me file but essentially you put the PSPRadio file into PSP>Game340 folder...but Game or Game150 should work as well)
Start up PSP Radio. Press start to go to connection/settings page. Connect to the internet via whatever wifi situation you have. Once you're on press Start again to go back and flip to the PLAYLIST page. You should see the playlist you inserted earlier. Click on Death.fm (or what ever link you saved) and you should hear the brutal and beautiful blend of music from deathfuckingmetal.
enjoy! |

There are complete guides on that website on how to start from the beginning, so anyone should be good to go. _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.

looks like PSP with firmware 3.93 comes with some sort of internet radio. I haven't looked at it to confirm the DFM stream.
advantage is you could do this w/o hacking your PSP. |

Damn you beat me to this!!! I discovered it yesterday.
*Edit
Have you had success? I keep getting an error and I followed you directions exactly and can't get it to work. BTW I do PSP mods so if you guys want yours done you can send me your PSP battery and memstick and Ill make them be able to mod PSPs with directions on how to do. You MUST send a battery for a Phat system not the slim and return shipping.
*Edit
I got it working I looked at the .pls file with notepad and it gave me this:
[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://209.9.229.211:80
Title1=(#1 - 58/666) Death.F(ucking)M(etal) - A Brutal & Beautiful Blend of Black, Death, Goth, Gore & Grind w/Requests
Length1=-1
Version=2
When I looked at your and min I realized I had different code. I changed this line: File1=http://209.9.229.211:80 to yours which is this: File1=http://209.9.229.212:8080 and it worked fine.
So when you guys download the play list open it with worrdpad and replace the code with this:
Code: |
[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://209.9.229.211:8080
Title1=(#1 - 58/666) Death.F(ucking)M(etal) - A Brutal & Beautiful Blend of Black, Death, Goth, Gore & Grind w/Requests
Length1=-1
Version=2
|
Then you will be all good. Just copy and paste the code above and youll have DFM on your PSP!!! _________________ - Does this hurt ? -

I have a few different streams book marked so I can adjust for WIFI signal strength; 32 & 64. If it keeps buffering I can switch to 32.
Good to hear it's working for others! Now we're not stuck w/ cafe rock.
