I've been doing this more and more lately when voting for requests, and I think others should consider it. Just because you don't like a band doesn't mean it should not be here. A good example of this is the new Suffocation album, I really don't like the band that much, but they are a very important and seminal death metal band, so I voted yes. Please take considerations such as this into account when voting, like I said I've tried to do this more recently. But this doesn't mean that you should vote for garbage (ie: 3 chord plus noise squealing and grunting), and this goes for the rare occasion that an old important band puts out a bad album. There are some very important albums missing here due to prejudices of the owners and others, and I believe this is just plain wrong. A good example of this is "Forest of Equilibrium" by Cathedral, probably THE album that carved the way for doom/death that was to follow. but the rest of their extensive catalog doesn't belong here, so even though the band is important, I wouldn't vote for other albums.
Point is, please consider what I've said when voting, I know we can't change Jeric and BQ's prejudices, but at least we can make it fair, quality is quality no matter what the genre, and I hope a few people here are smart enough to recognize that. _________________ Not dead, just sleeping.

I had already the same thoughts^^ reading the anti-votes to the latest Immolation-album!
Cjj: i can only agree with what has just been said and hope that other members will follow.

I basically do what CJ said already. And Stuka, if I voted against Immolation it was only because I didn't like the samples from the new album.
I don't think Jeric's policy is going to change while he's running the station, and I don't think it matters how we vote anyway. _________________ Don't write in, it's just for fun! |

This is exactly what I have been doing here for the last 4½ year, and I was hoping someone else was doing it too. Great to see others doing it as well!
I do however rarely votes these days. Not because I don't care, simply because I don't see the need. The few times I open the request forum is if someone have told me to listen to something explicit, or there is in fact a album I really, really think DFM could go on without (that is quite rarely I might add).
But for all those that do in fact spend a bunch of time voting, I really think they should take into consideration that ones personal liking is a proper subset of the metal genre, and that some bands, even though one does not necessarily like them, might in fact be good in regard to its appropriate genre of their music. |
