i was overwhlemed by Burton's vision of the White Knight AND Alice as Dodgson/Lewis Carroll's Avatar, which is clearly derived from the Alice books. Hence, Alice in armor with her luscious hair is based on John Tenniel's classic illustration of the Boy killing the Jabberwock. Burton had the courage to place this truth concerning Dodgson [his great Secret] before the public and created a masterpiece! It has always amazed me that even Tenniel at the time could see into Dodgson's Soul and accurately portray it in the illustration. Burton simply followed Tenniel's lead, pursuing Dodgson/Alice down the Great Rabbit Hole/Vagina. And yet Dodgson was, apparently, completely unaware of the Alice books display of the deep, eroto-material of his subconscious; a field day for future Freudians & Jungians and brilliant filmmakers like Burton.
