in the end, this was my fave for 2008.. an absolutely monster piece of funeral doom/death metal.. torturing slow, heavy as fuck, very dense atmosphere, cavernous voice, all point out to an absolute masterpiece of this genre.. not for the mentally disturbed, this might make you pull the trigger..

this is a neat little band.. their only release, they disbanded after that.. back in 1994 this was quite unique.. some slow death metal (they have fast parts too), you might even call it doom/death.. The title track is just amazing.. a band with huge potential, unfortunately just a meteor on the metal scene.. also a knotty cover, a la Hieronymus Bosch.. if you can get your hand on this, grab it!

A year after their debut "Ninewinged Serpent" (@DFM-playlist), Sweden's DEVIAN returns with "God To The Illfated".
Former Marduk members Legion (vocals) and Emil Dragutinovic (drums) started the band a few years ago.
"God To The Illfated" follows a similar path as Devian's debut. They mix thrash with death and black metal elements
for a sound that's extreme, but also has melody.
The main concept of this album is actually very dark, aggressive, anti-religious and mostly like a sledgehammer on your head!
Listen this masterpiece of supreme brutality and war!!!

ANAL VOMIT from Lima/Peru have published 2008 "Depravation";
their first full-lenght album was "Demoniac Flagellations" from 2005.
They plays a berserk combination of thrash, black and death metal
the way it was played in the 80‘s. Think of the first Sepultura albums, Sacrofago
en for more recent comparison Nifelheim and you are in the quite right direction.
Lyrically, primitive devil worshipping is the order of the day... hymns to the Dark One spit
in the face of God like venom. Musically, thrashing death metal
with a beautifully raw production helps convey the message.

Human Excoriation - Virulent Infestation

Human Excoriation's release, "Virulent Infestation", is a great technical work and a step up for brutal death metal.
What makes it stand out amongst most brutal death metal is the random tempo changes on songs such as "Inexoriable Defilemet" and "Virulent Infestation".
It usually drags from a swift pace to an unexpected slowdown. This is what caught my ear to this band.
If you want brutal music that won't bore you after two songs and keeps its variety, hear into this f*** great album!

Bloody Maria - Still Alive

Usually, bands with such a refined sound do not turn out well. However, the moment I heard such fantastic riffs, my ears bled for it. The songs on this album are outstanding creations by Bloody Maria, songs with a slower tempo (with catchy riffs) such as Undertaker, and songs with a thrash-like tempo such as Before the Storm. Once you get this album, you won't drop it for awhile! Heck, even place it in the classics section. This album is a must for any thrash/death lover.
