Cradle Of Filth - Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder
|
Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder |
|
“Godspeed On The Devils Thunder – The Life And Crimes Of Gilles De Rais” is an excellent return to the more older style of CoF, and one fans of both older and newer era Cradle will highly enjoy.
A concept album based on the infamous French nobleman Gilles De Rais, Godspeed takes you on a spellbinding journey through the life and crimes of Gilles De Rais; a tale where Dani Filth spares no gory detail with his usual dark and complex lyrics.
Cradle unleash their new drummer, Martin Skaroupka, for the first time on this album, and his drumming style is excellent, reminiscent of Nick Barkers drumming on the earlier Cradle works. To me Skaroupka is one of the main reasons for the return to the more aggressive Cradle, as he brings more interest and variety into the drums and complements the other instruments very well.
The limited edition of this album also contains other various materials, including a well executed cover of Celtic Frost’s “Into The Crypts Of Rays”, which fits in with the concept of this album due to the lyrical matter of this song also covering the life and crimes of Gilles De Rais.
This is one of those albums that must be listened through from the beginning to the end to be able to fully comprehend the complexity and majesty of what Dani Filth and co. have accomplished with this release, “Godspeed On The Devils Thunder” is simply a magnificent album, and has become a personal favourite of mine.

Catamenia - Winternight Tragedies
|
Winternight Tragedies |
|
Catamenia’s 6th album, “Winternight Tragedies” continues on with their underappreciated style of mixing melody in with black metal to create yet another cold and catchy headbanger. Despite the band issues with various members coming and going around the time of recording, Catamenia have made another high quality, energetic album.
Catamenia have covered Satyricon’s “Fuel For Hatred” for this release; an odd choice to cover, and not most people’s first choice for a song to cover (“Fuel For Hatred” wouldn’t even be my first choice of Satyricon material to cover) but Catamenia certainly manage to do the original justice, while adding their own unique spin on the song.
Overall, “Winternight Tragedies” is a great release where the songs only get better as the album goes on.

Pungent Stench - For God Your Soul...For Me Your Flesh
|
Light sound - A Classic! |
|
This album is a classic, and really brings out the older sounds of Death Metal. This band gets you into the style of music that DFM Brings. Everything went real well together, although the drums are real mellow. The guitar is slow, bass is fine, and the vocals are outstanding! This band is really slow, but it all comes together with a lighter sound and a kick ass album!

Deathcore - Not a fan, yet descent... |
|
Suicide Silence is the ONLY Band that I really like that is Deathcore. I liked one song from these guys, and all the songs on this album share one thing in common. Great double bass drum line kicks. I love where the put the double bass drum lines. The band itself is descent. Im not a huge fan, but it's not like I'd rather listen to Myriads than these guys... Anything EXCEPT the myriads...

Different sound - I love it! |
|
This band has a different sound that others do not have. I really like the bass lines in this. It backs up the back completely with the vocals, drums, and even guitars! This band's bassist is really gifted. I've even done my reading on this guy. This guy is a natural!

Nile - Black Seeds Of Vengeance

Nile! Nile! Nile! |
|
I remember, I was in 6th grade, and all I could listen too was this album. I owned many of these guy's albums through the years, and still remain a fan. Although, my love for this band has slightly dimmed, I still really enjoy the brutal feeling-sound I get from this album. Kick ass, and well put together!

Aeon - Path Of Fire

Nice kick... But why brutal? |
|
This is NOT Brutal... The band has a very good read about their past history. I picked it up off the internet and had my first good read, since Cannibal Corpse mixed with the tragic story of Cannibalism. Fake... Anyways, descent band. I didn't find anything special, but it still has its moments.

Six Feet Under - Haunted

Guitar Based Band! Great Sound! |
|
This band delivers a great sound, and is mostly based around the guitar. Lead strums, and steady drum beats go good together. Vocals played a HUGE roll. Like all Death Metal bands, it has a type of voice that I just love!
Great band, lyrics, awesome band altogether!

Sepsism - To Prevail In Disgust
|
AWESOME! |
|
Only one word can describe what I felt like when I first heard a song from these guys. AWESOME. I really appreciated the drum part more than anything. The vocals also did a kick ass job on the voice, especially how perfectly deep the voice was. Like I said, the drums were pure awesome, and did mostly everything in the band, and really made the band come together.
The overall songs are unknown. I've only head ONE song. Thats enough to decide...
5 Star Rating. This is rare.
