Insect Warfare - World Extermination
quality Grindcore
By: xeper171
Date: 26 Apr 2011
Rating:

This is one the best Grindcore records in a few years. Extreme, brutal, powerful, right-to-the-bone, ass kicking, relentless, a brief massacre with lots violence elements on it that will keep you breathless.
This is their only full lenght so they really worked hard on this one cause they surely created a grind masterpiece. This album set the bar really high.
If you like your music fast & loud, play this mthfkn record as loud as you can, it will sure upset your neighbours

Draconian - No Greater Sorrow
No Greater Sorrow
By: Ebonfire
Date: 21 Apr 2011
Rating:

The Swedish gothic doom metal band Draconian have released another new track, entitled “No Greater Sorrow”, not long after they released their 2008 full length album “Turning Season Within”.

I don’t know if this single was a leftover from the “Turning Season Within” recording process or under what circumstances this song came into existence, but I’m very glad it did. “No Greater Sorrow” is a return to the more doom-focused style found in their earlier albums, but it most reminds me of their material from the “Arcane Rain Fell” album, which is (in my opinion) their best album, and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear this song is a leftover from that era.

The song itself is bleak, depressive and atmospheric, more so than their last couple of albums, where the gothic side of their music is more prevalent. Anybody who enjoyed any of Draconian’s earlier albums will enjoy what this track has to offer, as this single has everything you would possibly want to hear in a doom metal song.

I’m hopeful they continue on with this doomier style on their future releases, but I’d still be very happy if they stuck with emphasizing the gothier side of their music, because Draconian have proven they know how to successfully blend the two styles together.

It was made available as a download only track, but it is absolutely worth getting if you're into this type of music. Draconian fans (and doom metal fans in general) will definitely enjoy what this track has to offer.

Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger
"High Score"
By: HeadlessBeast
Date: 20 Apr 2011
Rating:

This was the era for Black Metal and these guys really proved to be the best of the best for what we've seen in all this time Black Metal came to be. This album brings forth lots of new sounds and a division from what other bands have to offer. I have a feeling it is because of this album, that other black metal bands know which way to piss. Live.

Great album. Great band.

Dark Funeral - Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus
Best Album (in a while)
By: HeadlessBeast
Date: 20 Apr 2011
Rating:

Dark Funeral has really come a far way from being the in dumps after the first album. The first album was obviously the best, with brutal sounds and harsh guitars which is what makes Death Metal. The single on THIS album "My Funeral" really dragged me to do this review. Personally, this is my second favorite album from this band.

Black Witchery - Inferno Of Sacred Destruction
Brutal USBM!
By: nerfymcgee
Date: 19 Apr 2011
Rating:

Black Witchery hails from FL, USA and performs a unique "war metal" sound, with dark death metal like vocals, intense beat blasts and dark, melodic screeching guitars. Many songs have off-beat timings and/or unpredictable transitions. At first the drums may sound like a old school simplistic black metal blast, but that is not a bad thing with this band! No breakdowns, no female vocals, no keyboards, no long solos; just pure brutal black metal!

With each release, their talent and sound become more and more polished and brutal. This release is the pinnacle of their careers thus far, and I cannot get enough!

This "black metal" band is likely enjoyed by any death metal fan, as it may be considered too brutal to be labeled black metal, but too satanic to be labeled death metal.

Florida... the home of nursing homes, palm trees, and BLACK WITCHERY!

Ide love to see more material from this band on DFM

Nargaroth - Black Metal Ist Krieg (A Dedication Monument)
My personal Favorite...
By: HeadlessBeast
Date: 16 Apr 2011
Rating:

This band really gives Black Metal a good name, and if it weren't for these guys, a lot of bands wouldn't know which direction to piss. Mayhem is a great band, but to compare the sound, they have unique sounds and they are both different. This band takes it all. This is the band that you can say can have a cake and eat it. Well done on this one.

Kataklysm - Heaven's Venom
The Best
By: HeadlessBeast
Date: 11 Apr 2011
Rating:

This is my favorite album from these guys. I've been a long time fan and it seems like this one really takes the cake for me. Once I got the album, I immediately put the disc in and I was so happy with EVERY song. Not disappointed at all.

I suggest this for those who are trying to get into Death Metal, but for those who have been a long time fan of this genre, you will also find this enjoyable.
