Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
Excellant, and well ahead of its time!
By: tronous32
Date: 26 May 2011
Rating:

This is the best out of the Atheist catalog by far. The remaster is amazing, much louder and heavier sound. Songs like The Psychic Saw, Unquestionable Presence, An Incarnation's Dream, Mother Man-well the entire album I would say is one of the most perfect sounding/played technical death/thrash albums period! The remaster makes it shine even more. Cool to have the bonus tracks of Roger Patterson playing on bass before he passed.

Amaranthe - Amaranthe
No metal

Really not my cup of tea, and not even sure this qualifies as metal at all.

sounds more like a Eurovision songfestival band to me, and would be better off in a different radio station

Ancient - Cainian Chronicle, The
Classic
By: Azdragar
Date: 24 May 2011
Rating:

This is a Classic one. Maybe the Best one with Mad Grandiose friends album. This was the first Metal Blade release from Ancient, fronted by Norwegian Aphazel. The Canian Chronicle is a great mature and memorable collection. Evil guitar riffs, frenetic drumming, demonic screeching, and orchestral backdrops place this squarely in the Scandinavian black metal tradition. My favourite songs are "II: Lilith's Embrace" & "Homage To Pan". The first one has the perfect riff from start to the end, mixed with some female vocals sided to Aphazel one. Highly Recommended. I Rate this Album 5/5

Algaion - Vox Clamentis
AWESOME
By: Azdragar
Date: 24 May 2011

In My Opinion, this is one of those Albums you have to own. It's kinda EP, with only 4 songs, but this is one of the best Sweden Melodic Black Metal sounds ever made. Excellent guitars job, perfect voices and a great work on each song. Cupidus Imperii is my favourite one from all. Very Melodic one, in few words just awesome. Highly recommended. I Rate this Album 5/5

Alcest - Souvenirs D'Un Autre Monde
New Sound
By: Azdragar
Date: 24 May 2011
Rating:

This is that kind of Bands not easy for all to understand, specially to a radical mind. I had the opportunity to listen to the demo and also a split released a few years ago, and I can say that the sound it's very nice, because it insists on the aggressive and primitive Black Metal, with a few fine melodic ideas, some acoustic and that's all about it. The debut material is completely changed though, transforming the underground Black Metal sound in a totally different new one, extremely melancholic, slow, with calm and quiet voices, even including feminine voices. I think this is a new and attractive sound. Highly Recommended. I rate this Album 5/5

Agathodaimon - Blacken The Angel
Awesome Symphonic Black Metal Album
By: Azdragar
Date: 24 May 2011
Rating:

This is my all time favourite Agathodaimon Album. From the start to the end, you'll drown into a melancholic sound with harsh vocal charged with passion and sense. Tristea Vehementa has a beautyfull blend between Synths and Guitars and Banner of Blasphemy is the kind of headbanging song for all who listens to it. Near Dark is a masterpiece from this album because of the lenght and the variations the song combines. Maybe the album get a bit boring at the end, but that's not a problem at all. Highly Recommended. I rate this album 4.5/5

Aeternus - Beyond The Wandering Moon
Aeternus - Beyond The Wandering Moon
By: Azdragar
Date: 24 May 2011
Rating:

This is imo one of the best old epoch from Aeternus. As well as Dark Sorcery, this album has a very dark athmosphere with gutural vocals and some slow riffs. Very nice sound, like a blend between Black Metal and some death. Highly Recommended. I Rate this album 4.5/5

Khors - Mysticism
Totally Awesome
By: Azdragar
Date: 23 May 2011
Rating:

Listening to all eight tracks of this opus, through its many long instrumental passages, harsh and whispering vocals, keyboard laden moments or winding guitar solos, Khors creates truly astral, cosmic, soaring atmosphere. Primal nature worship can be clearly detected in deep, gleaming melodies created by Khors in Through the Rays of Fading Moon, In the Cold Embrace of Mist or Red Mirrors, everything is perceived through the prism of an involved individual. Awesome album, Highly Recommended. I Rate this Album 5/5

Opeth - Still Life
Amazing Different Album
By: Azdragar
Date: 23 May 2011
Rating:

Unlike most bands who choose a complex and technical path in which to express themselves, Opeth never forsake feeling and emotion for mere techinicality. Every note in every song possesses pure emotion and stirs up feelings of rage, sadness, hope and despair. Four albums into their career, Opeth have solidified a place in the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame by creating some of the most beautiful, innovative, original and downright mindblowing music ever to be heard in any genre of music ever. Highly Recommended. I Rate this Album 5/5

Ancient Rites - Dim Carcosa
Ancient Rites - Dim Carcosa
By: Azdragar
Date: 23 May 2011
Rating:

Ancient Rites "Dim Carcosa titled album is the fourth in the already more than 10-year anniversary of the band. Unfortunately there are no more full-length albums released due to an unfortunate record deals and ever-changing band format.
The album title is taken from a small portion of the Satanic Bible, Cassilda's Song, it's about surreal looking city, shrouded in mystery. The text of the title track is almost identical to Cassilda's Song and it is just the right atmosphere of it.
The songs are linked by pieces of text in the booklet. These pieces are written from the perspective of the singer. The artwork of the CD is absolutely stunning. On the pages of the booklet medieval sketches a picture of the text of the songs portray. There are few albums with some very well-groomed exterior like this (from Widow's Weeds Tristania, Vintersorg's Cosmic Genesis). Very Nice Album. Recommended. I Rate this Album 4/5
