Aborted - Global Flatline
Fleischnarben
By: ARny
Date: 25 Nov 2012
Rating:

You know a album is good when it opens with the line "I'm gonna fucking rape your soul!".

Aborted kicks you in the face with the title track Globale Flatline. It sets the pace and structure for the rest of the massacre.
It's fast paced in your face death metal, with an spectacular ending track. The limited version of Global Flatline also includes 2 re-recorded tracks: Eructations Of Carnal Artistry & Nailed Through Her Cunt. A nice bonus.

After the title track you're greeted with The Origin of Disease, which will leave an unforgettable impression. This track is listed in russian (Istochnik Bolezney), so it get's a fatherland bonus.
You know what you're are listening to from there on: The soundtrack to the apocalypse. It's nasty, it's disgusting, it's brutal and mercyless.
From vocals to instruments, it all sounds right. Memorable riffs and solos, pounding drums that'll make your skull crack, heavy bass lines and amazing vocals. If I had to pick, my favorite tracks would be "The Origin of Disease", "Fecal Forgery", Our Father, Who..." ah fuck it, I love every track on this album.

Global Flatline is one of 2012's best releases and I recommend it to absolutely everyone.

Abominable Putridity - Anomalies Of Artificial Origin, The
The Anomalies Of Artificial Origin
By: ARny
Date: 22 Nov 2012
Rating:

Well here it is, in my opinion the best release of 2012.
Over 5 years after their first album "In the End of Human Existence" they return to conquer the throne of russian brutality, with full fucking force. The old vocalist is replaced with the dude who did vocals for Disgorge, Pathology and some others.
The production is heavy as hell. The sound is flawless.

It starts off with a 1min intro to set the mood and kicks you right in the balls with Remnants Of The Tortured, the best opening to any album out there. The auditory butchery continues to shred and grind your innards with A Massacre In The North, one of the more gory tracks on this masterpiece. Your eardrums will cry blood for more until it's over. With 26min it is a really short album, but that just encourages you to blast it 17 times a day, which you will, guaranteed.
Every track is pure brutality wrapped in slamtastic gold. Flawlessly executed, 10/10 5/5 A++

Go now, get it today and turn the volume to the max. It'll leave you braindead.

Arkaik - Metamorphignition
Metamorphignition
By: freccia_nera_76
Date: 5 Nov 2012
Rating:

Technicality at the highest levels here .

Surprising and fascinating bass / guitar riffs , precise , ultrafast and elegant drumming .

Progressive sometimes but still definitively brutal .

Never boring and unfogettable at first listening .

An unexpected and very welcome masterpiece delivered this year along with another jewel : Spawn of Possession's "Incurso"...an extraordinary year for brutal/tech fans...

Decapitated - Carnival Is Forever
Still strong.
By: PixonNixonIxon
Date: 28 Oct 2012
Rating:

After their tragic bus crash that claimed the life of cherished drummer Vitek and left talented frontman Covan with extremely serious injuries, many Decapitated fans wondered whether the band would ever recover.

This album certainly proves that they are not only capable of doing so, but that they have absolutely no intentions of quitting anytime soon. This album definitely stands out to me as a testament of perseverance through tough times. The guitars are clean and audible, the drumming is immaculate, the bass is sharp and the vocals, although very, VERY different from Sauron and Covan's styles, are still pleasurable to the ear. The slow intros on Carnival is Forever and A View From a Hole are simply fantastic and lathered with anticipation for when the brutality kicks in. Mixed in with the fury of the songs The Knife, United and Pest, the combination makes for a very crushing album. Finally, the somber track entitled Silence at the very end as a tribute to their fallen brothers leaves the listener with a tear in his eye. A very well executed album.

Crotchduster - Big Fat Box Of Shit
Amusing Musical Satire
By: SummoningEternalNightMCMX
Date: 24 Oct 2012
Rating:

Pretty amusing stuff for the occasional listen, although I guess it would get old pretty quick if you actually owned the CD. Still, in terms of both music and comedy this is way superior to, say, Dethklok.

Cephalotripsy - Uterovaginal Insertion Of Extirpated Anomalies
An example of the state of extreme metal
By: iskralia
Date: 2 Oct 2012
Rating:

I dont like writing negative reviews, but this, this is an anti-support review. This album is one of the things wrong with metal today. Bands like Cephalotripsy trade any semblance of good music and just pound away at the same 1 1/2 step downtuned chords, combined with the equally unimpressive bree-breeing vocals and horrible sounding triggered snare drums. The worst part is that this sounds exactly the same as the previous slam/brutal death album. There's no originality or soul in this music.

Honestly, I could not sit through this album the first time through. Repeated listens helped me come to the conclusion that this is a bad record. The main thing that is wrong with this and most brutal death metal out there is the guitar sound. When you downtune your guitar so much, add so much overdrive and distortion, and just bash away on it, you dont get a great riff, you get static. And that's what the guitar sounds like throughout this album, static. Brutal death static. The type of stuff that metal's detractors always harp about. This seriously takes no talent to do. Combine this with some of the worst sounding drums I've heard in my life, and you've got this. Then you still have the heavily pitchshifted vocals that you cant understand, hardly audible bass lines, and drum patterns that seriously make you question whether these guys have any ear for good music. What's going on? And the cover is just like any other BDM cover to boot. I can't find a single riff or breakdown or passage in this whole album that is worth listening to. Its all the same. There's no personality in the music. The sterile-sounding production brings out the lack of soul or substance in each song. To me, it sounds like the producer and the engineers just let the sessions ride, not bothering to do much but maybe move a level or two. Maybe they realized they were working with musicians who don't understand that 5 riffs being played on top of a down-tempo double bass pattern doesn't make a good song. It's very disappointing to see that an album like this exists. It gives fuel to the idea that metal fans are mindless, screaming idiots that bash on their instruments for hours and call it music.

Just stay away from this album. I would say to stay away from this style of metal, but there are bands that put their talents to good use and actually make this style of music sound great. But, Cephalotripsy does not, and I don't recommend wasting your time and money on an album as bad as this.

Evadne - Shortest Way, The
gr8
By: urielms
Date: 30 Sep 2012

A deeply emotional and truly beautiful, yet dark record. It makes you feel love, sadness, anger and bliss. Crushing yet melodic, guitars carry you into a world laced with beautiful keyboards, guttural vocals mixed with clean singing and hypnotic drumming. If you are a fan of death/doom, this is a record that you need to hear!

Nox Aurea - Via Gnosis
Nine Funerals and No Weddings
By: SummoningeternalNightMCMX
Date: 25 Sep 2012
Rating:

Some folks reckon this band is a Draconian rip-off. I would rather call it a tribute, and a damn good one. The only problem is, the cake is too rich, and there's more than is good for you. Nine slices of unrelieved gloom.
