Fleshgod Apocalypse - Labyrinth
|
Chaos |

I still haven't decided if this is a disappointment, or something great.. their technique is impressive, production is spotless, but somehow it seems like they have tried too hard.. too many sounds mixed together, sometimes it sound like a cacophony .. too many vocal styles, not all fitting (especially the spooky ghost one, definitely out of place).. but definitely some great riffs, catchy songs (hehe, it's still death metal ).. my feelings are mixed after listening to it several times.. if this were their debut I would have said - stunning, but it's not..

Brain Drill - Quantum Catastrophe
|
Brutal Tech Milestone |
|
In 2010 this album opened a new era , it was way ahead of his times , sounded very new , extreme and hard to digest for many.
That being said , it did set new standards for the genre .
Without "Quantum Catastrofe" many bands would't exists and the scene would be stagnating still .
So thaks Brain Drill for this masterpiece...

Absolutely one of the best technical death metal bands in Canada right now, right up there with Gorguts... this album is simply phenomenal

Listening to this album leaves one major impression upon me. Dragged below the depths, shafts of sunlight occasionally penetrate but you quickly realize there is no escape as Ea himself seizes your mind and body in his underwater lair.

Deeds Of Flesh - Portals To Canaan
|
Deeds & Arkaik |
|
I must admit that I was not much interested in Deeds of flesh up to this album but...with the addition of Craig Peters and Ivan Munguia ( both from Arkaik and the last from Braindrill as well) the songs have become more interesting and catchy .Very good production and top-notch tech performance , add the rest .I would have avoided some useless intros and outros though.
Overall , it is a TERRIFIC album .

Bukowski Family - Unpleasantries Abundant
|
Finally a band with both the image and the music! |
|
I have waited for this kind of a band to emerge for so long. A band that takes the image as far as possible and also taking the music to the levels where it is not merely technical show off or nonsense speed shit that has no relevance in my listening experience. I love this stuff! Heavy, catchy, ruthless and simply put insane!
I want a full length! Like, now!

Cannibalism: Hope for humnity. |

The world is overpopulated and famine has condemned millions to starvation. Bukowski Family has offered the world salvation through cannibalism. The sound of The Family is death, vomiting into the vagina of life, the guitars shred flesh and the drums beat the meat to make the treat tender and sweet. The vocals are honky head soup boiling in a cauldron, the terror is traumatic Horror-humor morbidity.
This offering by "The Happy Bunch" is contempt and comedy, killer passion and hope for humanity in the inhumanity of creativity.
The sounds are incredible, inspiring feeling and fear, the concept is flesh and fury unleashed in music.
Everyone will eventually die, everyone may as well listen to Bukowski Family, before the inevitable end of their existence.

Devian - Ninewinged Serpent
|
Ninewinged Serpent \m/ |
|
Former Marduk members Legion [vokills] and Emil Dragutinovic [drums] started the band a few years ago.
They mix thrash with death and black metal elements
for a sound that's extreme, but also has melody.
The main concept of this album is actually very dark, aggressive, anti-religious and mostly like a sledgehammer on your head!
Add this masterpiece of supreme brutality and war, CHEERZ\m/
